School Impact Fee Bill
On March 14, West Hawaii Today published an article, "Bill would make developers contribute to schools." Senate Bill 696, introduced by Senator Norman Sakamoto, would require developers of residential subdivisions to provide land or pay impact fees in designated "school impact districts." The bill would apply only in areas that do not have enough room in the schools to accommodate new students from the new subdivisions. Senator Sakamoto notes, "The goal is to make things more fair and equitable."
