State Buys Upper Moanalua Valley
On April 2, the State purchased Upper Moanalua Valley from Samuel Mills Damon Estate. The 3,716 acres of undeveloped forest land is considered one of Oahu's natural treasures. It is home to five types of native forests, three endangered bird species, fourteen endangered or rare plant species, and two endangered snail species. The valley will be maintained as "conservation land." This will protect one of Hawaii's unique habitats to be enjoyed by future generations.
